How Does EnviroKlenz Air Purifiers Compare with PECO Technology

Have you ever stopped to consider the potential dangers or hazards present in your air, hazards that can possibly contribute to adverse health effects? Indoor air quality has become a major topic in today’s society, as more and more information is being presented to the public on the potentially toxic pollutants and contaminants within this indoor space. The average American spends close to 90 percent of their time indoors, which makes indoor air quality that much more important to public health.

Air purification and air purifying devices have become a popular solution to these indoor air quality issues within personal indoor environments. However, as this solution garnishes more and more attention, the market has started to see an influx of options become available to consumers with varying technologies and brands making their air purifiers available to the public.

We are going to discuss the differences between the varying air purifier technologies such as the popular EnviroKlenz and PECO air purifiers.

EnviroKlenz vs PECO Technology

When you are deciding on the best air purifier for your home or personal indoor environment, having comparative information on the different top brands and how effective they are in relation to the other competing air purifiers will help you to make the best selection for your indoor air quality needs. The most popular air purification technologies that have been used for years in air purifiers includes carbon, ozone, and ionizers, but as time progresses new emerging technologies are coming to the market such as the patented technologies of EnviroKlenz (adsorptive neutralization) and PECO.

PECO Technology

A Popular Air Purifier on the Market utilizes their own patented technology called PECO (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation). The technology behind PECO includes the use of free radicals to oxidize pollutants which came from the concept of the previously developed PCO (Photocatalytic Oxidation). PCO is achieved when you combine UV light rays with a titanium dioxide coated filter which creates hydroxyl radicals. Whereas the PECO technology uses nearly the same process as PCO, just more efficient and effective at eliminating pollutants. The bases of both these technologies is the use of light to entice a reaction, which results in the release of a claimed safe byproduct into the air.

The technology, however, has been faced with heavy scrutiny from customers who have experienced significant issues and flaws with their air purifier.

EnviroKlenz Technology

The EnviroKlenz Air Purifier combines advanced EnviroKlenz technology for toxic and noxious chemical and odor removal with HEPA filtration to remove airborne dust, particulates, and allergens. The patented technology was originally designed to destroy some of the most harmful chemical warfare agents and has since been commercialized to eliminate harmful airborne contaminants from personal indoor air and surfaces.

We at EnviroKlenz pride ourselves on being able to capture pollutants without the potential for these pollutants to re-release back into the air and without the release of any chemical byproducts into the air like other competing air purification technologies.

In an effort to present consumers with comparative information against the different competing air purifiers and their effectiveness against specific air contaminants, EnviroKlenz conducted research and testing. The results of this testing can be found down below.

Comparing the Effectiveness at Removing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

In this chamber study, a volatile organic chemical was released in an environmental chamber under ambient conditions.  The various air systems and technologies were remotely controlled to not disturb the environment.  The IQAir was the air system that was able to remove the chemical the quickest, but since the system uses carbon media, the chemical has the potential to be released back into the atmosphere with an increase in temperature or changes to humidity and pressure.  In some of our real-world evaluations, we have seen carbon systems start to desorb VOCs as the temperature rises towards only 80 degrees.

The EnviroKlenz Air Purifier out performed the Blue Air and MoleKule system, while also offering more than just physical absorption.  The EnviroKlenz Air Cartridge works though a combination of physical and chemical mechanisms.

Comparing the Effectiveness at Removing a Nitrogen Compound (Ammonia)

In this chamber study, ammonia was released in an environmental chamber under ambient conditions.  The various air systems and technologies were remotely controlled to not disturb the environment.  The EnviroKlenz Air Purifier rapidly adsorbed the ammonia gas from the air.  The IQAir system which utilizes a significant amount of an activated carbon did remove the ammonia from the air, but since carbon is not reactive, there is the potential for it to be released back to the atmosphere with changes in temperature, pressure, and or humidity levels.  The bare carbon filter had minimal absorption of the ammonia.  The Blue Air purifier utilizes HEPA filtration and only some physical absorption of the ammonia on the HEPA filter media was observed.

The PECO Technology  did not remove or breakdown the hydrogen sulfide in the test.

Comparing the Particulate Filter Media Capacity

EnviroKlenz Air Purifier uses a HEPA filter that has more square feet of media when compared to the ones used in the IQAir and the BlueAir.  The MoleKule does not have a HEPA filter, so the square feet of the prefilter was used for this comparison.  The prefilter, in addition to the having fewer square feet of media, is also significantly less efficient at removing particulates when compared to HEPA or better filters of the EnviroKlenz, IQAir and BlueAir systems.

The EnviroKlenz Air Purifier has the highest amount of particulate matter filter media with over 56 square feet, IQ Air has approximately 50 square feet, Blue Air approximately 28 square feet, and the MoleKule particle filter has around 3 square feet of particulate filter media.

The more square feet of particulate matter media results in a filter that can capture more particulate matter before needing to be changed.
